What is document status? PDF Print E-mail

Document revisions may have any one of the following statuses:

Refer to our tutorial section for a graphic description of how each status is applied.

Suggestion
A document that has been suggested, but has not been accepted as a valid document idea. A document may remain as a Suggestion until a user with the proper permissions elevates it to Approved or Declines it to Obsolete. A Suggestion document may be Obsoleted if the suggestion subject matter is already covered in another document or the subject matter does not warrant a document of its own.

In Development
A document that is In Development is currently reserved for editing as a new revision of an existing document. Only the individual that created this revision, or a user with special permissions, may edit it.

Open
Like In Development, a document with this status is a new revision of an existing document, however rather than just the creator of the revision being allowed to edit, all users with the ability to edit documents may edit this revision.

Pending Approval
A document that was previously In Development and has been submitted for approval by the creator. When a document is Pending Approval, only the approving authority may modify the revision or elevate its status to Approved.

Approved
A document that has been reviewed and deemed to be a fair and accurate representation of the subject matter by a reviewing authority.

Outdated
A revision that was previously Approved, but a more recent revision of the document is now Approved.

Obsoleted
A document whose subject matter is no longer relevant. No new revisions or comments may be created for an Obsoleted document.
